Choice Blog Post for Vocab

Here is one last chance for those of you who have not yet included the required vocabulary (two noted & used correctly terms from your Book Club novel) in a post. Please complete the following:

A) Compose a new, original paragraph (of choice - narrative, informative, or argumentative). Post it as a comment under this post. (Remember to copy your work before going through the submission process so it does not disappear.)

B) LABEL your paragraph choice (narrative, informative, or argumentative) & include your FIRST NAME.

C) Correctly use and identify (at the bottom of the post) 2 vocab words.

Mrs. Musick and Miss Foyle will be touching base with you about your progress on the blog post assignments and on your vocabulary usage.

*If you are interested in revising one of your previous paragraphs (after getting your rubric back), please see your respective Book Club teacher. Remember, the overarching goal here is to make sure everyone can both distinguish among the three purposes for writing AND compose each one with appropriate structure and support.

bilbo baggins is a hobbit. a hobbit is short; half the size of an actual man. he also has redd curly hair, no shoes and very hairy feet just like esau. hobbits are very smart. bilbo is really smart in the quest. he found the magic ring, found the akrken stone, got away from gollum and many more amazing things

  2. Bilbo was in a dark cave near were Smaug was looking for him. There were many foiled plant due to lack of sunlight in the cave. There were also many scary noises. Bilbo was very audacious just being in there. He had the arken stone with him and his trusty knife. Then all of a sudden.

    "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH."
Bilbo had fallen from a cliff in the cave, but sadley he did not survive the crash.

bilbo baggins is a really strong character in the book, but would he really be that strong in the real world? the answer is no! bilbo is to small and not strong enough in the real world. he is only half the size of a average size human. he also wouldnt have that magic ring and nobody would be there to back him up. thats why bilbo cant survive the real world.

"Thorin!" his dad called. Thorin had been playing with the other child-dwarves. He had been to the pond, played in the forest, and visited the door where behind it the dragon lay. It was a smouldering hot day. He didn’t mind though. It was a great day.
“Thorin!” His dad called louder. Thorin said goodbye to the other kids and sprinted inside. He was all sweaty from playing outside but he had so much fun. The kitchen door was left ajar, because it was dinner time. He rushed in, hungry for dinner. But all he saw was his dad and other older even more serious than his dad dwarves. He hated when his father had meetings like this. He decided to go back outside.

bilbo baggins is a really strong character in the book, but would he really be that strong in the real world? the answer is no! He may be able to smolder people, but bilbo is to small and not strong enough in the real world. He is impassable in his world but people are impassable to him in our world. he is only half the size of a average size human. he also wouldnt have that magic ring and nobody would be there to back him up. thats why bilbo cant survive the real world.

  7. Informative Paragraph
In the Hobbit, the character Gollum is a very slimy little man who lives in the swamps. When Bilbo is all alone, he meets Gollum. Gollum senses a special ring called the Ring of Invisibility. A quotation when Gollum is sensing the ring is: “Curse it! Curse the Baggins. Who has it? What has he got in his pocketses. He’s found it! Yes, he must have my birthday present!” Gollum will not let Bilbo impass his cage until he guesses riddles. Then, he will allow Bilbo to pass. Finally, the cave was let ajar for Bilbo to go.

The Dwarves, Gandalf, and Bilbo are wasting their time. First, the dragon (Samug) and other enemies are extremely dangerous. Since Gandalf is gone all the time, it’s literally just the dwarves and Bilbo getting captured. “ ‘O good-bye! Be good, take care of yourselves-and DON’T LEAVE THE PATH!’ “ Second, the gold is almost useless to them. They seemed perfectly fine before their adventure. They all came to Bilbo’s house and stuffed themselves which seemed regular to them. Also, they seem to have enough to buy instruments. “ ‘Now for some music!’ said Thorin. ‘Bring out the instruments!’” Lastly, they practically walked right into this war that they had at the end. They’re plans were foiled when they told everyone about the gold. They tried to make it a secret but they didn’t do a very good job at that. “ ‘We speak unto Thorin Thrain’s son Oakenshield, calling himself the King under the Mountain, and we bid him consider well the claims that have been urged, or be declared our foe. At the least he shall deliver one twelfth portion of the treasure unto Bard,’ “ In conclusion, they are wasting their time and should do something else.

  9. Informative Paragraph
In Beowolf, when Beowolf died, he was buried at sea. He was buried at sea because of various reasons, but mainly two. The first reason is, in the story, water represents strength courage and bravery. And Beowolf was gallant and strong throughout the whole story. The second reason is that some of his battles (usually major battles) were battled in the water. It reminds everyone of his brave battle(s). Also, because of those two reasons, it shows all the time and sacrifice he put into protecting the land. Because of that, everyone will remember and honor him, and burying him in a unique and honorable way, at sea, was a good way to show their love and respect for him.
